Maomao has a five-year-old mystery to untangle. The latest character trailer for The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure focuses on a consort who died in the palace five years earlier and the woman who once served as her head maid. The official film announcement released this fourth character PV on October 14.

The teaser points to the consort’s wish to return to her hometown after five years. Why that delay matters is the question; the trailer gives us a glimpse of Maomao beginning to investigate. We’re keeping the rest spoiler-free.
