That familiar chorus is back. Naomi Tamura’s “Yuzurenai Negai,” the opening from the 1994 Magic Knight Rayearth anime, appears as an insert song in episode 1 of the new TV adaptation. The official anime site announced the return on 8 October in Japan, alongside the song’s first digital release.

The classic song, a new role

This return does not replace the new anime’s opening. The official music page lists “乙女の剣” by Toaka as its opening theme, and “Yuzurenai Negai” as an insert song.

New to Rayearth? The story follows Hikaru, Umi and Fuu, three schoolgirls drawn into the world of Cephiro. The 2026 adaptation and the original 1994 anime have separate title pages, so you can explore either version without mixing them up. For the original series that introduced this song, start here.
