Akane worked at Sunrise for the first 15 years of his career. There he collaborated with Shouji Kawamori to direct his most famous work, Vision of Escaflowne. After having left Sunrise in 2000, he joined Satelight, where he created and directed the shows Geneshaft, HeatGuy J, and the most famous of the three, Noein: To Your Other Self.
