Jarrett Hartnell

Bio I am a professional comic book writer/illustrator from Calgary, Alberta. My debut 209 page graphic novel, Shout Kill Revel is announced with a Kickstarter coming soon and will be in comic shops and book stores in April 2024. It's being published by Renegade Arts Entertainment and distribtued in Canada, US and the UK. I have a bachelor's degree in visual communication majoring in illustration from the Alberta University of the Arts where I also created and teach classes on comics and storytelling through Continuing Education. I've committed myself to an expressive, energetic art style that allows me to pencil, ink, and color my work in a timely fashion. I started writing so I had comics to draw for my projects at AuArts and quickly learned that I had stories I needed to tell. I've also practiced and studied lettering since I am so fond of the unique storytelling properties that can be used to enhance the story. Using my music education from my early days I've found a new passion for composing scores and themes for my stories to capture every molecule of expression I can. My focus, with editorial help, is to utilize my singular vision and execution to tell emotional and powerful stories clearly and efficiently.
